ACT’s traditional professional tour showcases Sofia’s independent performing arts infrastructure. It offers an opportunity to meet the venues, artists, and teams that create and develop the city’s independent arts scene.
The tour raises questions about the conditions under which the independent sector operates: how is an independent space created and maintained, what infrastructure do artists need, and how can individual venues build a shared cultural ecosystem?
Starting point of the tour: Sveta Nedelya Square
23.10 | 14:00–16:00 | Hyperspace Social Tech Hub
How can one build a sustainable professional career in a project-funded and constantly changing environment? A discussion on financial sustainability, professional security, international collaboration, and development opportunities for independent artists and organizations.
Featuring: Ulrike Künner (IG Freie Theaterarbeit), Krzysztof Kolachek (EAIPA), Chiara Baudino (C.Re.S.Co.), the “Independent Cultural Sector” Association, and Simeon Alexander (Creative Europe Desk – Bulgaria).
October 24 | 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. | Bunker, West Park
Sofia’s cultural infrastructure is under constant pressure. Traditional venues for the performing arts are disappearing, and new ones are emerging in their place—but often only briefly. What is needed for cultural spaces to become a sustainable part of the urban environment?
In the context of the conversation about the future of cultural infrastructure, we present the abandoned bunker in West Park as a potential venue for the future of cultural life in Sofia.
Featuring: Krzysztof Kolachek (EAIPA, Kutná Hora Performing Arts Festival), Barbara Poček (Glej Theater / TRIGGER Festival), OPTIMISTAS, Simeon Alexander (Creative Europe Desk – Bulgaria)
