The theatrical-visual one-person show “Morphine” takes aim at humanity’s place in the world and explores the destructive disintegration of existence in the battle between reason and emotion, the divine and the earthly, the real and the unreal. “Morphine” is an autobiographical novella, staged for the first time in Bulgaria, written by Mikhail Bulgakov in 1917, revealing his secret addiction to morphine and the ensuing dark descents into the treacherous embrace of the opiate. The production won the “Ikar” Award in the Debut category for Kristina Belomorska and received an “Asker” nomination in the Rising Star category for the entire cast and crew.
